When I travel, I use Delta or American Airlines, because I fly for free. I use my credit card for monthly and annual expenses, and earn at least 1 mile for each dollar.
How it Works:
If I can use my credit card to pay for something, I do. In addition to regular purchases (gas, groceries, shopping, etc.), I use my card for recurring expenses.

I pay my bills online using my American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles® credit card, and I earn 1 mile for each dollar. Then, I pay off my credit card.
With planning, you can pay many of your bills by credit card. You can earn rewards, sign-up bonuses, and even get a little extra time to pay by putting monthly expenses on a credit card wherever it makes sense. And in your first year with this card, the interest rate is 0%!
The cheapest airline ticket I've seen on Delta is 17,500 miles. If your monthly bills total $300 or more you could easily earn a ticket in just a few months. With this promotion, you receive 60,000 miles to use on Delta, or their more than 30 airline partners.
How much money will you spend this year?
If you're like most people you will have expenses (e.g. Holidays, Birthdays, Back to School, Home Goods). If you plan to spend more than $3,000, you should consider getting the American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles® credit card. You are going to spend the money anyway, get rewarded for it.

The American Express Referral Program
I earn Delta airline miles for telling people about American Express credit cards and offers. American Express offers this incentive to its card members through their Referral Program. Anyone with an American Express card can join the program.
How it works: I blog about the program and share my personal link.
Pros: I earn up to 55,000 miles per year. The program credits 10,000 miles for each approved referral (up to a maximum of 55,000).
Cons: I only reap the benefits for the first 5 people who sign up. The program credits 10,000 miles for each approved referral (up to a maximum of 55,000).
